Welcome to EdCamp!

It’s finally here! Here are a few last minute details for EdCamp Cleveland:

EdCamp Cleveland is at
Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School
6380 Mill Road
Broadview Hts, OH 44147

The high school is on the hill behind the middle school. Registration begins in the main lobby at 8:00, with the opening session starting at 9:00. During this time, you’ll have the opportunity to submit ideas for sessions you’re willing to facilitate. If you’d like to get a jump on session ideas, feel free to visit http://boardbuilder.bbhcsd.org. Remember, you don’t have to be an expert on a topic to facilitate a conversation about it. Just provide some context to get started, and moderate the discussion.

Please feel free to bring your phones / tablets / laptops and other devices. Wireless access will be provided. Thanks to Huron City Schools, a limited number of iPads will be available for you to borrow if you’d like to play with one for the day.

Thanks to Brecksville Patch, coffee and breakfast refreshments will be provided. We also have some special surprises for everyone courtesy of Progress Book, Simple K12, ABCya!, Thinglink, and Jennifer Maddrell, LLC.

Once we have a schedule in place for the day, you’ll have the opportunity to attend four breakout sessions on topics of your choosing. Unlike traditional conferences, you “vote with your feet” by attending the sessions most relevant to you. If you find that a conversation is not meeting your expectations, it’s perfectly appropriate to leave in favor of something else. Remember, these aren’t formal presentations. The goal is to make connections and start conversations about the educational issues that are important to you.

Through the generous support of the Educational Service Center of Cuyahoga County, lunch will be provided. We’ll have some vegetarian and gluten-free options as well.

At the end of the day, we’ll have a closing session that gives everyone an opportunity to reflect on what they’ve learned and share their insights with the larger group. We’ll finish with some awesome raffle prizes donated by WoHo, Project Foundry, Simple K12, Edutopia, Jason Seliskar, and Loeschware. The day will conclude by 3:45 PM.

If you just can’t get enough, there will be an informal after-party at the Winking Lizard Tavern, 6111 Quarry Lane, in Independence.

Thank you for helping to make this such a great experience for everyone who attends. Remember that YOU are the conference. We’re looking forward to seeing you.
